What am I missing here? It seems that any service that still requires a local installation of the Steam client for activation is not an alternative to Steam. A true alternative wouldn't require Valve's malware on my system.

What I 💗 about gog: I can play my DOS and Windows games from there on Windows XP and Windows 10.

I'm gonna be honest I really like Origin. I know I know "EA Bad" even though they have a limited selection on games. I vastly prefer the interface to steam and at least in my experience MUCH faster download speeds. Also Xbox for PC is a good alternative as well.
Not a fan of PlayStation now, it's not good compare to Microsoft store, with more titles.
